Why measure the time taken to complete tasks?
It takes a long time and a lot of effort to increase the effectiveness of production procedures and the overall TPM system (Total Productive Maintenance), and every little thing matters. Time is one of them, which is regrettably frequently ignored. Its measurement and oversight directly contribute to improving the effectiveness of maintenance services and the business overall.

How can the standard time of a job be established to boost productivity?
Setting normative (estimated) times for the completion of a certain task or operation is the process of establishing standard time. It applies to all actions taken, except for conceptual and creative labour. Knowing the normative timings enables better planning and personnel performance monitoring. Most frequently, time standards are created based on regular measurements of how long it takes to complete tasks inside the firm.
The essential characteristics of tasks that provide an economic basis for standardisation are:
- high time-consumption
- and repeatability, e.g. retooling
What goal are we trying to achieve when we measure task completion time?
- Detailed cost calculation
- Measuring and monitoring the effectiveness of working time,
- Improved planning by setting prescriptive times for the duration of work,
- Reducing lead times
How does the CMMS support time measurement?
Time can be measured using a stopwatch or manually entered into the QRmaint CMMS. The gathered information is shown as a whole or in more detail according to the individual UR team members’ times. By creating working time reports for specific specialists and keeping track of how long it takes them to accomplish particular tasks, you may analyse the gathered data.
